Winter on the Atlantic Coast
I like empty places. I love feeling as if I am the only person on earth, aside from the sea birds hovering above the water, searching for food. It’s an eerie feeling to be completely alone in a place that is normally very lively and crowded.
Wrightsville, Carolina, and Kure beach are three popular beaches in NC, and despite never visiting during the summer I am certain that I prefer them in the winter. The pastel beach rentals and ice cream shops sit like silent statues; the only sound coming from the waves as they plunge into the perfectly untouched sand.
We spent most of our time at the beach laying in the sand, listening to the waves, and watching people fish off the pier. Who says winter at the beach isn’t any fun?
