I have so much I want to share about Ireland. So many new experiences and memories. And yet I haven’t felt compelled to turn on my computer in weeks. Instead I’ve been drawing maps and painting in the quick sketches I…

Hello guys. Lately I have been getting back into fitness and going to the gym a lot more. I am also trying to utilize all of the new technology i see around me in the form of wearable fitness trackers. These little things are great since they have a lot of sensors and gizmos for tracking my caloric intake and how much distance i have gone when i do one of my jogging sessions.
I could definatly stand to lose a little weight, so it definalty helps to have a little technological assistance. My Tom Tom Spark 3 is great for this since its kind of an all in one fitness tracking device. I used to have a Fitbit, but i felt it somewhat lacking in features comepared to other trackers. It its compatible with mapmyrun, which is one of the best fitbit apps ive ever used. It has crazy things like GPS and sleep tracking that seems to happen automatically. This is great for me since i never have to take it off, and even when i shower it is 100% water resistant.
I have also started to get into triathalons more, so i think this watch will really help me with my training sessions. I know when i run it gives me pretty accurate statistics, but i havent tried cycling or swimming with it yet. My friend has a Garmen smart watch and he swears by it. He is really big into traithalons and in a lot better shape than i am though.
Its crazy, but it seems like there is a wearable to measure everything now a days. I have heard there are devices that can measure your cycling by attaching to your bike and wearable belts that warn you when you have gone up a notch. They even have smart scales that measure your BMI and heart rate when you stand on them. Some have Wi-Fi built into them to connect to the internet. I guess we are wll on our way to the internet of things, eh?

It’s been a long time since I last used my backpack and for months it has been resting ever so quietly under my bed. Today I finally pulled it out, brushed the dust off, and began to think about what…

“Don’t you ever wish you could go back?”- Uncle Rico from Napoleon Dynamite. I think everyone lives part of their lives in the past. I think we all have curiosities about what a different time would have looked and felt…

While one normally thinks of snow and below freezing temperatures, I visited Montreal during a sweltering heat wave in the middle of summer. With no appetite for poutine, I spent most of my time inside of museums and sitting in…

When I first imagined Miami Beach, I thought of palm trees, pastel-colored hotels, funky cafes, and a miles of sandy beach. I imagined a fun place in which to relax and do nothing for a couple of days. Miami Beach…

Everyone has a hometown. A place that holds a special meaning in your heart, regardless of the way it looks and feels to others. Cambridge, Ontario is my hometown. I haven’t lived there in quite some time but whenever someone…

Ljubljana surprised me. Unlike other former Yugoslavia capitals that leave much to be desired (I’m looking at you Belgrade), Ljubljana was charming, colorful, musical and as I walked through the streets, I could easily imagine myself living there. Small in…
